Best Burger in Andong (and in Korea): Malcop Burger
If you’re like us, you swoon at the idea of a good burger the morning after a night of drinking, on a regular Saturday afternoon, or just because. Finding a burger that is the perfect balance of fresh veggies, salty juicy patty, a thin slice of cheese, thick fries, and a beer to wash it all down, we’re here to share with you the best burger we have ever had. We’ve tried burgers from all over the world, including all over Korea, and none compares to the burgers at the tiny burger shop Malcop, located in Andong, South Korea. Better than any burger we’ve tried in Korea or the U.S., the burgers in this shop are made to order and not sweet (an attribute that can be a challenge to find in Korea at times).
The menu is simple, but still offers a variety of burgers and toppings to choose from. They also offer a number of milkshakes and sets that you can enjoy in addition to a kids burger. The prices are good.
Not only does this place have great food, but the owner, D.K. is very friendly and kind.
We went with the Malcop Burger beer set, which includes locally brewed beer and crispy golden fries.
This burger is truly nothing short of perfection, from the mild yet garlicky mayo, to the flavorful but not too greasy bun, to the thinly sliced onions to the melty gooey cheese that cadences together in the perfect bite. Get this burger, you won’t regret it.
The Andong Lager pairs wonderfully with the Malcop burger. It offers a bubbly, light taste that is not super hoppy. Andong brewing also has a brewery where you can sample local beers.
Overall, we couldn’t reccomend Malcop burger more. It’s definately worth visiting if you are local to Andong, live in the Gyeongsangbukdo area, or if you want to take a quick 2 hour KTX ride from Seoul.
