Best Jeonju Hanok Village Cafes: Gyodong Tea Garden
If you’re looking for a sweet spot to grab a cup of tea during your visit to the Jeonju Hanok Village and you’re looking for a traditional experience, you have to check out Gyodong Tea Garden. This cute little tea house is tucked in a side street of the main Hanok Village and is serene and tranquil. I visit this house every time I go to the Jeonju Hanok Village and I’m never disappointed because it offers a TRULY traditional experience.
One notable aspect of this house is how quiet it is on the inside and it tends not to be overcrowded with tourists because its slightly off the beaten path. It features a garden courtyard and both traditional floor seating and table seating in a well kept hanok lined with traditional paper called ‘hanji’.

Groups can order a pot of tea for hot drinks and everyone shares the same pot, or for iced drinks each person can order their own glass. They bring the tea in a traditional tea pot that your group can enjoy and offer a variety of different kinds of tea. They start by pouring hot water over the tea pot and show you how to brew the tea in a traditional way.
We opted to share a pot of tea for the table.
This cafe also has a few limited but very good traditional Korean snacks to try, including yak-gwa which are dense, chewy delicious honey cakes, as well as different kinds of traditional acorn jelly desserts.
